"A changeable God would be a terror to the righteous, they would have no sure anchorage, and amid a changing world they would be driven to and fro in perpetual fear of shipwreck… Our heart leaps for joy as we bow before One who has never broken His word or changed His purpose." C.H. Spurgeon

The sovereignty of God means that as ruler of the Universe, God is free and has the right to do whatever He wants. He is not bound or limited by His created beings. Further, He is in complete control over everything that happens here on Earth. God's will is the final cause of all things. Sovereignty in the Bible is often expressed in the language of kingship: God rules and reigns over the entire Universe. He cannot be opposed. He is Lord of heaven and earth. He is enthroned, and his throne is a symbol of his sovereignty. God's will is supreme.

Incomprehensibility does not mean that we know nothing about God, but rather our knowledge is limited, falling short of total and exhaustive knowledge. We know what God has chosen to reveal about Himself to us.  However, we are to continue to grow in knowledge of God.

Knowing who God is, is vital. If we know that He is immutable and we know He is good and only good, then in the good times and also in the devastating and painful times, we can trust and rejoice because He has not ever stopped or cannot ever stop being good!

He is always with believers. He is with us in the good, the bad, the hard, the lonely, the mundane, etc. He will never leave us or forsake us! There is great comfort to the believer in regard to God being omnipresent. There has never been a time when you have ever been alone. When your life is going great, God is there. When you cry yourself to sleep and wonder if anyone cares, God is there.  When you are walking through the loneliest times in your life, God is there. When your faith is being put through the crucible, God is there. When your heart is breaking, God is there. When you “friends'' walk away, God is there. When you don’t know how or what to pray, God is there. When you have stumbled and fallen, God is there. When you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God is there. If you were to travel to the most remote distance galaxies, God is there. When you are on your deathbed, God is there. When you take your last breath, God is there. All through eternity, God is there, and we will be in His presence forever!

He knows all things that will come to pass because He decreed it all. He knows every leaf that has ever fallen since the creation of trees, He knows the number of grains of sand on the planet, He knows the numbers of atoms in this universe, every second of every human’s life from the creation of the world, etc. There are no unseen events or surprises to God. The prescient view is an attack of God’s omniscience.

We must remember that no matter what comes in our lives, no matter how bad things may seem, no matter how broken the world is, no matter how weak we are, we serve God Almighty who is omnipotent. That’s how we go to sleep every night, wake up every day, and walk through every day, remembering that He is omnipotent.

What is aseity? Aseity comes from the Latin word “a se” which means “from Himself” or “of Himself. It speaks of God’s independence and self-sufficiency. God has life in Himself. He has no other source than Himself. He exists of and from Himself. He exists by his own power. He does not “have” existence, He “is” existence. He is not created, but rather the creator of all things. Since He is the creator of all things, He is before all things making Him eternal with no beginning and no end.

He is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!

Only when we begin to understand who He is and understand His holiness, then and only then can we truly begin to see who we are and how unworthy and unclean we are even to be in His presence. This brings us to a place of humble worship and adoration that the holy God would show any kindness, grace, or mercy upon unholy creatures let alone lay His life down for unholy rebel creatures and desire for them to be forever in His holy presence. Understanding who He is and in comparison, who we are is a key to sincere, truthful, reverent worship as well as thanks, trust, and awe. Understanding the holiness of God and sanctification are inseparable. God’s holiness is vital to all aspects of our lives and should be reflected on and leaned upon every day. Let us be like the seraphim who call out without ceasing “holy, holy, holy!”

There are times when objects or things that are not of human nature are considered holy. Does that mean that these things are righteous in their actions or morally good? How does something or someone become holy? The only way anyone or anything can be holy is they have been declared holy by the divine will and declaration of the Holy One. God sets things and people apart and declares them holy which is the only way anything in creation can be holy.

Truth is light and there is no greater Light than that of the Source of all truth as we in eternity will dwell in the illumination of the light of the glory of the God of truth! The truth of God is offensive to the unregenerate person. Truth is not fluid or open to debate. Truth is final, immutable, and unchanging. Truth is not dependent on our feelings. Truth is truth. We do not change the truth to accommodate our traditions, feelings, or wants, but are to submit ourselves to the truth as declared by the Sovereign God.
